Battle for Play Areas Alcohol Ban to Continue

Cllrs Myrtle Stewardson and Sallyanne Smith Campaigning for Play Area Alcohol Ban

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats will continue for an alcohol ban for children's play areas

The campaign to see alcohol banned from play areas will continue after the issue was deferred once again by Bedford Borough Council's Licensing Committee.

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats are pressing for children's play areas to be designated "alcohol free zones." This would allow the police to require individuals to stop drinking alcohol immediately and to confiscate alcoholic drinks from drinkers in play areas. Where individuals do not comply with such requests they could be arrested and, upon conviction, fined up to a maximum of £500.
